Email or Text Message Invites
This video will show you how to upload a CSV file with email addresses and send invitations to those addresses.
Video Transcript:
0:01 Hi there. So today we're gonna look at how to add some email addresses that you may have somewhere like Outlook or Gmail. 0:10 And we want to invite those people to your event. So you're on your event page. Here we are. And I want to go down to share. 0:20 And then at the bottom of Share you'll see address book. So we can click into the address book. And from here, I don't have any contacts yet, so I can see this ad contact. 0:31 So I click that and right away it asks, paste in a list of names, emails, et cetera. So now I want to go into my email program. 0:40 So like I said, maybe it's Outlook, maybe it's Gmail something. So I have Gmail here. So I have this list of emails. 0:49 This would be kind of nice to use. So I'll just copy all these and then I can paste them in here. 0:58 And if I want, I can name this group. So I can maybe want to name it Lome, and then I add the contacts. 1:11 All right, perfect. So all the contacts are now in with their emails and they've been given that lome tag. Now I can select each one and I can say, invite to an event, and I'll invite them to my class party. 1:27 All right, the invites are sent. I'm all good. So now if I want, I can go back to class party and if I see in my results, I'll see that I've shared it with them here. 1:45 Great. Thank you.
Text Message Invitations
In addition to email invitations, you can also send text message invites to your community members. When adding contacts to your address book, make sure to include phone numbers along with email addresses to enable text messaging.
Common Text Messaging Issues
If you're experiencing problems with text message invitations not being delivered, here are some common causes and solutions:
Check Phone Number Format:
- Lome currently only allows text / sms to US phone numbers - numbers outside of the USA will fail.
- Remove any special characters or spaces from phone numbers
- Verify numbers are complete and accurate
Carrier Restrictions:
- Some mobile carriers may block automated messages
- Recipients may need to check their spam/blocked messages folder
- Ask recipients to add your organization's number to their contacts
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Double-check that phone numbers are formatted correctly in your contact list
- Test sending a text invite to yourself first
- Verify the recipient's phone number is active and can receive text messages
- Check if the recipient has opted out of text messages from your organization
If text messaging continues to fail after trying these steps, please contact our support team for technical assistance.
Troubleshooting Email Invitations
Email Delivery Issues
Sometimes email invitations may not reach your recipients as expected. Here's how to diagnose and resolve common email delivery problems:
Check Email Address Formatting:
- Ensure all email addresses are properly formatted (example@domain.com)
- Remove any extra spaces or special characters
- Verify there are no typos in email addresses
- Make sure each email is separated by a comma or new line when pasting multiple addresses
Verify Delivery Status:
- Go to your event page and check the sharing section
- Look for confirmation that invites were sent successfully
- Check if any email addresses were marked as invalid or failed
Common Delivery Problems:
- Spam Folders: Ask recipients to check their spam or junk mail folders
- Email Filters: Some email providers may filter automated invitations
- Invalid Addresses: Bounce-back messages indicate incorrect email addresses
- Server Issues: Temporary email server problems can delay delivery
When Invitations Aren't Sending
If you've added all recipient email addresses but invitations still aren't being sent, try these steps:
- Refresh and Retry: Wait a few minutes and try sending the invitations again
- Send Test Invitation: Send an invitation to your own email address to test the system
- Check Contact List: Verify all contacts were properly saved to your address book
Additional Troubleshooting:
- Clear your browser cache and try again
- Check your internet connection stability
- Try using a different browser or device
- Ensure you have proper permissions to send invitations for the event
Recipient Guidance:
Advise your recipients to:
- Check spam/junk folders regularly
- Add your organization's email to their safe sender list
- Contact you directly if they don't receive the invitation within 24 hours
